Worst way to continue a political career
Running for mayor of Eagle despite still being gainfully albeit briefly (due to term limits) employed as an Eagle County commissioner didn’t work out too well for Arn Menconi, founder of a nonprofit snow sports program for at-risk youth called SOS Outreach.
Menconi, a Democrat, lost on April 1 to unaffiliated Ed Woodland by a margin of 734 to 126 in a record turnout for Eagle.
Some local Republicans saw Menconi’s loss as a sign the political tide was turning in Eagle County, where Democrats have done surprisingly well in the last two general elections.
