New Pass In Town
Worst way to learn about the Epic Pass
Vail Town Council members, who have been grappling with traffic and parking issues and an ongoing affordable housing and labor shortage, were incensed to find out about the new pass right along with the general public in the newspaper.
Some council members expressed concern the new pass will increase visits by Front Range skiers who drive up to Vail on Interstate 70 and park along the town’s frontage roads.
“There are too many people on the streets and the risk of somebody being hurt is extraordinarily high, the skier drop-off is an absolute nightmare, and there’s no definitive plan to deal with it,” council member Andy Daly said.
Vail Resorts officials insisted the new pass will be favored more by destination skiers who tend to fly in and take vans or public transportation.
