Daniel and Nathalie Joly relax on the porch of their landmark Mirabelle restaurant in Beaver Creek. Nathalie is wearing chococate suede trachten jacket by Marcus Meindl and a Zelda Poet blouse. Daniel is comfortable in a Paul suede vest, Vanlaack flannel shirt and Brunello Cucinelli-Henley sweater, all available at Gorsuch Ltd. in Beaver Creek .
It takes creativity, dedication and perseverance — not to mention fine food and an inviting ambiance – to own and manage a successful restaurant, especially in highly competitive markets such as the Vail Valley.
The couples featured in this photo portfolio are among the top in their field. Each of their restaurants reflect their own personalities, making their restaurants enticingly unique. And each is has become a landmark in the Vail Valley.
Belgium Master Chef Daniel Joly and wife Nathalie (opposite page) purchased the Beaver Creek’s venerable Mirabelle Restaurant in 1999. Daniel had previously been chef-manager.
The rustic façade of this historic building belies the award-wining stylish menu, extensive wine list and romantic atmosphere for which Mirabelle is renowned.
Chef Paul Ferzacca and wife Lourdes have a distinctive flair that keeps Vail Village’s legendary La Tour restaurant trendy and hip while offering exceptional French cuisine.
Among its many accolades is being known as the restaurant where other chefs go to dine. The couple recently opened ZaccaZa in Avon, offering outstanding casual fare in a family-friendly setting.

Kelley Liken and Rick Colomitz have been receiving rave reviews ever since opening Vail Village’s stylish Restaurant Kelly Liken. Chef Liken is committed to providing “one of a kind” dining experiences.
The innovative menu changes frequently to offer the freshest seasonal ingredients. Recently, the couple recently opened Rick & Kelly’s in Riverwalk at Edwards. Located along the Eagle River, this restaurant offers casual fare in a spectacular setting.

Chef Jean-Michel Chalain and wife Kimberly bought Vail Village’s Left Bank in 2006.
The restaurant, opened in 1970, had been owned by Luc and Liz Meyer, for whom Jean-Michel served as sous chef before the transfer.
Originally from Grenoble, France, the chef carries on the grand traditions of this elegant French-influenced restaurant that has and continues to earn countless awards for excellence.
People who understand the restaurant business know how time intensive it can be.
But when these owners have some free time, they relax in style, as we see on these pages featuring fashions from some of Vail Valley’s top clothing and jewelry purveyors.
