Wrapping up July with culture & sport
Well it’s Friday and I am still planning for the weekend. I can’t believe that July is wrapping up and August is just around the corner.

Friday’s at the Park is a great family friendly event at the Park Hyatt in Beaver Creek. Free activities for the kids plus music, food & drink specials for the adults might be worth checking out. It starts in just a few minutes.
Heading into Lionshead is another good option family entertainment on the mall and free gondola rides to Talons deck for a pretty good deck party. I may stick closer to home and swing by Avondale at the Westin Riverfront in Avon. The FAC last week was great fun with live musical entertainment and people watching that made me think I was at Cyrano’s and the 80’s still had a bit of life left.

Tomorrow morning (Saturday) is the Colorado-Eagle River Run bike race. This is an annual event that raises funds for SOS Outreach and riders from all levels participate, I think the best place to watch is probably the last hill back up to Beaver Creek to end the race. There are 2 routes, 100 miles and 100 Km, pick your poison but you do need to register as space is limited.
The Antique show in Beaver Creek is worth checking out on Friday, Saturday or Sunday, and the Moos & Brews at the Fairgrounds is new this year and could prove to be well worth the trip all the way to Eagle on Saturday afternoon.
The event of the evening on Saturday is the New York Philharmonic at the Gerald Ford Ampitheater in Vail. The concert is at 6:00pm and there is a pre event talk in the Children’s garden at the Betty Ford Alpine Gardens at 5:00pm. Tickets are easy to purchase on line and it is quite possible that this will sell out.

The Vail Farmers Market is always a good call on Sunday’s. There are many food vendors and many of the Vail restaurants have a nice Sunday Brunch or Lunch available. Personally I love stopping in Marketplace on Meadow Drive, the pizza’s are very good and can be ordered at the pub.
I am pretty sure that Sunday evening will be a night to remember as Sheika Grammshammer is the Guest Conductor of the New York Philharmonic. I have many fun memories of Sheika and I am confident that this will be a performance to remember. I understand there are very few seats left availble and I suspect that the lawn will fill to capacity.
Next week:
I plan to update all of the local fundraisers that are scheduled for August; Evergreen Ball (8/8), Betty Ford Tribute to Dr. Richard Steadman (8/13), Star Dancing Gala (9/18) and the Vail International Dance Festival schedule.
No mater what your plans are, I wish good food, fabulous fun and great wine for all.
