Weekend Suggestions

Summer is well under way in the Vail Valley.

Last weekend featured phenomenal fireworks on Saturday night over Harry A. Nottingham Park & Lake in Avon.

They were spectacular and the weather was perfect!
Vail’s 4th of July parade did not disappoint though I was a tad late for viewing from Bart & Yeti’s deck. I blame my tardiness more on old age than Beer Drinking Buddy’s beer tasting event in my dining room following Avon’s Fireworks.
The Beaver Creek concert was enjoyable until we were drowned out by Mother Nature and did not stick around for the fireworks.

Last night I watched “Top Chef Washington” to keep track of Kelly Liken’s efforts.
She was definitely a bit stressed that she had to go all the way to the final round. I am pretty sure the trip to Italy she and Rick won was well worth the extra effort, and to have her item put on the Hilton menu is certainly an accomplishment.

My workweek has been quite short, one of the benefits of living in a resort town.
The “Walking Mountains” ground breaking for their Avon School campus will kick-off my weekend this afternoon at 4:00pm.
We may try the Beaver Creek Rodeo in Avon again tonight, last week we had to retreat to the beer tent before making a dash for the car in a deluge that started less than half way through the show.

Vista at Arrowhead has live entertainment, great food and drink specials on the patio. I ran into Chef/Owner Michael Glennon last Friday morning and he said the rain did not affect them. Vista may be a
safe bet, especially for those not worried about entertaining the little buckaroos.
ZaccaZa also has live entertainment tonight, though we may save that for Friday night.

Speaking of Friday night, activities at Avondale, Park Hyatt and Wolcott Yacht Club all are good bets for the mid-valley folks.
The Philadelphia Orchestra will be kicking off the 2nd series of Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival at the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater in Vail and Lionshead is full of options as well.

Till next week, no mater what your plans are, I wish good food, fabulous fun and great wine for all.
