Supporting our local's in a time of need
10 ways to eat & drink well and support members of our community in need.
I think August 2009 will raise significant funds for a very large and diverse group of local organizations and individuals. I read yesterday that the number of volunteers in Colorado is increasing dramatically as our economy continues to dip and lag. I find that news to be an encouraging comment on our state and I am certain that it translates to Eagle County.
Cap off your weekend with this Sunday evening event
My previous post included several events for this weekend and shortly after I posted I received information about a fundraiser for a longtime Vail Valley local, husband, father, outdoorsman, skier and business owner, Paul Maloney, 55. Paul recently was diagnosed with stage IV cancer of the neck and throat and this event has been organized to help with related medical expenses he has incurred.
The event is this Sunday, August 9 from 5:00pm – 9:00pm at the Eagle-Vail Pavilion. While I do not personally know Paul this event sounds like one I might attend. The funds are going to a worthy cause, thanks to the Vail Charitable Fund for providing the support for yet another local with extensive medical expenses.
Tony G for music with food and beverages provided will be worth the $ 25.00 adult ticket price. It is family friendly with $ 5.00 donation for kids and free for under 12. It sounds as if the Auction items are going to be interesting and diverse. Send me an e-mail if you would like more details.

Hand Crafted Pottery for a cause
I have recently learned of another new event, this time a moderately priced ($ 20.00) lunch time fundraiser for the Salvation Army that will be held at the Eagle-=Vail Pavilion on Friday, August 21 from Noon to 2 pm.
