Open House at the Vail Nordic Center
Vail Valley guests and residents have an opportunity to learn more about the Vail Nordic Center during an open house from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. tomorrow (11-21) at the Vail Nordic Center, located in the Vail Golf Club. The open house is being hosted by the Vail Recreation District (VRD) and Ski and Snowboard Club Vail (SSCV) as an opportunity to learn details about SSCV and its Nordic program including the annual Nordic Town Series and share ideas and suggestions with the VRD staff about the upcoming Nordic season including trail maintenance and signage. Attendees will be entered into a drawing to win a 2009-10 Nordic Center season pass. Light appetizers will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
The open house will occur during the Vail Nordic Club's annual Nordic Swap, which will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. tomorrow in the basement of the Nordic Center. A portion of the proceeds from the Nordic swap will benefit SSCV's Nordic program.
Tomorrow is also the final day to purchase Nordic Center season passes at an early season rate. Passes cost $80 for adults, $70 for Vail residents and $40 for students. Beginning Sunday (11-22), passes will cost $90 for adults, $80 for Vail residents and $50 for students. The Nordic Center retail shop is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily.
The Nordic Center is scheduled to open when approximately two feet of snow has fallen. Once the center opens, it will offer approximately 17 kilometers of groomed track and 10 kilometers of separate snowshoe trails.
