It's time for summer picnics

Mark your calendars for the Town of Vail's tenth annual neighborhood picnic series, July 23 at Bighorn Park and Aug. 20 at Donovan Park. The picnics provide residents an opportunity to offer comments and suggestions about community issues to members of the Vail Town Council and town staff. In addition, the town will provide attendees with information on wildfire preparedness and will take appointments for free "Firewise" property assessments.

Each picnic will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and food and drink will be provided by the town on a first-come, first-served basis. The first outing will be hosted by the Town Council, Public Works, Fire and Administration departments on July 23, while the Town Council will be joined by the Community Development and Police departments during the second picnic on Aug. 20. A third picnic in the series has been discontinued indefinitely until the town's revenues improve.

In addition to the two neighborhood gatherings, citizens are also encouraged to share their ideas, concerns and suggestions at any time by calling the Vail Town Council voice mail at 479-1860, ext. 8, or visit the Town of Vail.
