Exceptional August Fundraising Events
Summer is cruising along in Vail and Beaver Creek and as August descends upon us so do many of the annual Gala’s and Fundraisers that support some of our local causes.
On Saturday, August 8 at the Westin Riverfront Resort & Spa the inaugural edition of The EverGreen Ball will be held as a fundraiser for several local environmental causes. There social event will be preceded by a Green Energy Expo from 4:00pm – 5:30pm where many of the event sponsors and green energy supporters will offer introduction and information about emerging products and technology. The dinner event will feature Governor Ritter and Duke Energy Chairman, President and CEO, Jim Rogers The event will raise funds and awareness for the valley’s three most important conservation organizations: The Eagle Valley Land Trust, The Eagle River Watershed Council and the Eagle Valley Alliance for Sustainability. As of this writing tickets are still available, but they do expect to sell out.
Saturday, August 8th is a popular date to be out and about. The Vail Valley Foundation will be hosting their annual Vail International Dance festival sponsor’s gala. This Gala is held annually in the Big Tent in Ford Park near the Betty Ford Alpine Gardens and is one of the season’s most treasured invitations.To guarantee your inclusion in this event a Gold Dress Circle Supporter of the festival is a worthy investment.
Dr. Richard Steadman will be presented with the Spirit of Betty Ford Award at Donovan Pavilion on Thursday, August 13. This award and benefit dinner is presented by the Betty Ford Alpine Gardens. I have had the honor and pleasure as a member of the organizing committee to arrange this event since its inception and we are thrilled to present the Award to Dr. Steadman. Past recipients include First Lady Betty Ford, Gardens Founder Helen Fritch, Vail Valley Foundation superstar Allie Coppeak and last year’s recipient and community supporter Marty Head. As of this writing tickets are available and can be purchased by contacting the Betty Ford Alpine Gardens at 970-476-0103.
The Vail Youth Foundation will present their innovative event on Tuesday, August 18 with the Star Dancing Gala at the Vail Valley Jet Center. The transformation of this venue will be creative and innovative and the event concept once again shows the community how inspirational and innovative youth are to our community. Tickets may be purchased on line and are currently available starting at $ 200.00 per person, the proceeds will provide a broad array of programs for many of our regions youth.
Returning for its second year is the local edition of the national food industry event “Share our Strength” which benefits the Local Salvation Army and will be held on Thursday, August 27 at the Westin Riverfront Resort & Spa. This event showcases the vast talent that is the Vail-Beaver Creek Restaurant & culinary community the Vail Valley’s top chefs will join forces to prepare a gourmet meal (with wines) for guests to raise funds to help ensure no kid in the Vail Valley and America grows up hungry. Tickets are $ 125.00 and the featured chefs are some of my favorites, Paul Ferzacca, La Tour Restaurant & Bar , Jeremy Kittleson, Restaurant Avondale , Armando Navarro, Larkspur, Kelly Liken, Restaurant Kelly Liken and Kevin Nelson, Terra Bistro
