Beaver Creek & New York City bring new performances to the VPAC

You don't have to wake up in the city that never sleeps to get a real taste of New York. The best in New York City performing arts are coming to Beaver Creek this month as the Vilar Center presents a series of shows from the Big Apple. The diverse shows are rounded out by dinner specials in Beaver Creek Village

The series kicks off on Thursday 14 with the Grammy-winning big band ensemble the Village Vanguard Jazz Orchestra. The group was formed in 1966 to perform three nights at the famed East Village nightclub of the same name. More than four decades later, they still serve as the house band at the Village Vanguard club, performing every Monday night to sold out crowds.

The series continues on Friday and Saturday with the return of one of the Valley's favorite shows: STOMP. The group returns to the Vilar, bringing back the percussive genius that made the tour famous, while also introducing new surprises that will keep the show fresh for those who can't get enough.

Jan. 22 takes things right to the heart of New York City with Neil Berg's revue “100 Years of Broadway.” Performed by decorated veterans from Broadway's most famous plays, the revue is a showcase of favorite hit songs from The Phantom of the Opera, South Pacific, My Fair Lady, Chicago, Les Miserables, CATS, Jesus Christ Superstar and Jekyll & Hyde, to name a few.

No trip to New York City would be complete without a sampling of the food that has come to define the Big Apple. Beaver Creek will offer specials to Vilar Center ticket holders.

At the Blue Moose, an 18-inch New York-style BIG Moose Pizza is $16. Visit the Beaver Creek Chophouse for a three-course meal featuring the Chophouse's empire NY strip oscar, for $33, as well as $5 Big Apple martinis. Or indulge in a NYC Big Apple roll and hot sake at Foxnut Asian Fusion & Sushi for $15. Show your ticket to redeem these specials; reservations are recommended.

Tickets for Vanguard Jazz Orchestra are $50; tickets for STOMP are $60-$75 based on seating; tickets for Chris Tile are $28; and tickets for “100 Years of Broadway” are $65-$85 based on seating. Tickets for all shows are available online www.vilarpac.org or by calling 888-920-ARTS(2787) or in person at the box office in Beaver Creek.
