07/09/09Get A Nicer Can- It's Vail Law
Vail households with curbside trash are required to have wildlife-resistant trash containers under provisions of an ordinance approved in 2006. The regulations were enacted following incidents in which two bears were euthanized after repeated disturbances in the West Vail and East Vail neighborhoods. The requirements have been effective in reducing the number of bear encounters. For example, in 2008 there was a 42 percent reduction in bear calls compared to the previous three years with just 51 reports in 2008, compared to as many as 141 in 2005. 06/18/09Summer is heating up
I am so happy that summer is finally heating up. I hope everyone had as great of weekend as I did. I am looking forward to even more fun this weekend. It was not all that long ago that I began to live for the weekends like so many “regular” people have for years. I was in the Hospitality Industry until 2003. It took until late in 2007 before I really got the hang of planning my weekends. I finally have it down when in 2009 Bill had to go back to the kitchen, and consequently his weekends are only “Sunday”, so the planning has been adjusted. I am getting ready for the weekend as I type, it is Thursday, but my fun will begin tonight. The Beaver Creek Rodeo kicks it up at 5. I may not make it until after 7 as... 06/12/09Amy's Tips for a fun Vail Valley weekend
Boy am I ready for summer. It appears as if we finally have a nice day, I hope I can still say that at 3:00pm. One of my “new” favorites is Blue Plate Bistro in Avon. The outdoor deck is really nice and the food is great. Adam cooks up great homemade products and the prices are terrific. Ellie is always on hand to make sure that service is friendly and efficient and her Strawberry Mojito is fresh and fantastic. They have the best “skinny” fries and I love the eclectic worldview menu. As some of you may know after a 10-year hiatus my husband Bill is back in the kitchen. I first met Bill when he was the Chef de Cuisine at Alfredo’s at the Westin in Vail in 1990. He took a break from the kitchen in 1999,... Posted at 11:38 AM | Permalink | Comments: 0 |
