EAGLE VALLEY ARTIST ALLIANCE SEEKING MINI-MASTERPIECES

Eagle Valley Artist Alliance is offering artists of all ability the opportunity to make and exhibit miniature works of art. The local artist organization is providing blank post cards to anyone who wants to participate.

Just paint, draw, collage or sculpt on the postcard EVAA provides and mail it back by March 27.

The postcards will then be exhibited at Loaded Joe’s in Avon during the month of April, with a reception on Friday, April 3rd.  The mini-masterpieces will be sold for just $10 each with proceeds going to help fund future EVAA events.

Members of the artist alliance came up with idea for the Mini-Masterpieces after hearing friends say they would like to own an original piece of art but can’t afford it.  “Not only will the masterpieces be affordable, being limited to a 4 1/4 ”x 5 1/2 ” post card provides endless possibilities and reduces the amount of time I have to invest in the piece”’ said EVAA founding member, Amy Dose. “Therefore I can experiment with lots of styles and techniques on multiple cards,”.  Like other artists Dose, spends days, weeks, months and even years on a single painting.

An added incentive for participants is that completed mini-masterpieces can be placed in the mail just as they are.  The piece of art may be submitted on any medium but the size is limited to 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". They are handing our Watercolor sheets of this size at Scully's, Loaded Joes or Copy Plus. Postcard art retuned to EVAA will be enhanced by the addition of postage stamps and the postal service date and place stamp.  “There is also the option of putting more delicate creations in an envelope before mailing or just dropping the post card off where you got it,” says Dose.   Blank postcards are available at Scully’s in Eagle Vail, Loaded Joe’s in Avon or Copy Plus in Eagle who donated printing on the cards.

EVAA will use proceeds from the mini-masterpiece exhibition and sale to help fund art workshops for kids that will take place at the Gypsum library this summer in conjunction with a Dr. Seuss exhibit.   More information about Mini-Masterpieces or membership in  EVAA can be found on EVAA.US  or call EVAA member Robin Nash 390-5187.
