In the meantime, the big news in Colorado is that the ski season has begun. Both Arapahoe Basin and Loveland ski areas started their lifts last week and, even as I write this, I can look out on the snow-covered slopes of Beaver Creek Mountain. We’re cold and we’re happy!

Visitors to the Vail Valley this year will discover many changes. Vail Village is nearing final completion of its many renovations, including major improvements to the ski base area and several hotels. The Lionshead area has been reinvigorated by the opening of Arrablelle at Vail Square last season. The new, state-of-the-art Westin Resort and Spa, at the base of Beaver Creek Resort, had a spectacular autumn opening. And more is to come.

At the, moment the Vail Valley, like the rest of the nation, is immersed in the November elections. The placards are out in force and the debates are vigorous. However, after all is said and done, we’ll relax and enjoy a great winter.
