Some thoughts about Vail's longtime friend
First of all, our best wishes go out to former U.S. Congressman and U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, who recently was diagnosed with cancer.
Also, a former NFL for the San Diego Chargers and Boston Buffalo, Kemp has been a longtime part-time resident of Vail.
Above all, he has been a great friend of Vail and has been involved in numerous local such as the organizations, Vail Valley Foundation.
His efforts over the years have helped increase the quality of life for the entire community.
We know he’s a fighter and hope to see him on the slopes very soon.
In fact, he would probably give anything to be on the slopes at the moment.
Vail and Beaver Creek have accumulated near-records snowfalls since Thanksgiving.
As of January 20, 218” had fallen on Vail, which now has a 48” base; Beaver Creek had
204 inches and now enjoys a 47” base. All of this resulted in an increase in skiers over the Christmas holidays by around 7 percent.
The snow, combined with Vail Resorts’ value-loaded Epic Pass has kept the skiers and riders coming back in droves even after New Year’s.
Finally, we’d like to congratulate The Vail Valley Charitable Fund for being named the 2009 Nonprofit of the Year by the Vail Valley Partnership.
The Fund helps locals facing catastrophic medical bills.
The choice of Charitable Fund will be formally acknowledged February 6 when the Partnership will also announce the winners of such categories as Small Business of the Year, Business of the Year, Entrepreneur of the Year, and others.
